The Air Force Reserve Officer Corps (AFROTC) Program is a college based training program that helps full time students pursue a career in the United States Air Force or Space Force as an officer. Santos shares: “In the AFROTC program, we learn qualities of leadership, discipline, respect, comradeship, and what it takes to be a military officer.”
Santos became a certified drone pilot in high school! ??? She received her training at the Elementary Institute of Science.
About choosing aviation, Santos says “Initially, I wanted to be in the medical field but only because that was culturally expected of me. I was constantly torn between doing what was expected and what I loved doing. If you love what you do, you'll never have to work a day in your life. So, that's why I pursued engineering and aviation. Expectations are not for you to live by but to break through.”
Educational Pathway: Santos is studying aerospace engineering and training to become and officer through the Air Force Reserve Officer Corps Program.
